Events like Retail Olympics, More Utsav, Funday and Sangamam bring together employees cutting across levels, positions, functions and businesses to work, play, compete and have fun. These awards recognise superior teamwork and outstanding achievement as measured against international benchmarks and they are given out across businesses within the group. Every year, the Aditya Birla Awards are a time for awardees to revel in the limelight and for our team to draw inspiration from those that are the torchbearers of greatness.

Performance Mapping and Periodic Reviews

Our rewards and recognition programme does plays an active role in boosting employee engagement and commitment. With clear mechanisms in place to measure performance, every employee is given an opportunity to enhance his/her own performance and create greater success for the organisation.

The success of our people are celebrated and appreciated with the Best Appraiser Award, Store Excellence Awards and People Excellence Awards amongst many others. We encourage our employees to take pride in their work.

We also encourage a culture of high achievement by enrolling managers in capability building programmes such as Effective Performance Conversations and Mid-Year Acceleration programmes. Those who complete the programme successfully are then awarded as Best Appraisers through focused surveys.

In fact, differentiated compensation programmes have been designed to ensure retention of top performers and the marketability of ABRL as a preferred employer. Variable Pay Programmes, ESOPs, Employee Discounts, and Incentive Schemes are just some of the initiatives that have been institutionalised in line with the philosophy of Aditya Birla Group to reward performance and motivate employees to demonstrate better demonstrate better performance. When a workplace is buoyant and fun, the energy is palpable and can spark success. Our endeavour is to evolve a culture of belongingness amongst our employees through various events at the workplace, which boosts the morale of our employees and amplifies team-building efforts.

Fun-filled events based on themes that encourage maximum employee participation are constantly carried out on a year-long basis. Some of the annual events include Women’s Day, Independence Day, New Year’s Eve and Diwali. We also regularly hold picnics for our employees to foster better bonding and a sense of togetherness.

Retail Olympics 2016: Showmanship at its best: In its second year, Retail Olympics 2016, a 3-month long sporting extravaganza jointly hosted by ABRL and Pantaloons was a brilliant display of skill, passion and sportsmanship. With 14 games including cricket, football, kho kho, tug of war, chess, table tennis, badminton, arm-wrestling, etc, and 8 mixed teams comprising members from both organisations, the competition was intense. In the end, Hawks emerged the champions of the closely fought battle, with Creative Cats and Theseus coming in at second and third place, respectively. The event culminated in a grand closing ceremony felicitating the 122 medal winners and their families. Apart from taking home fond memories, fun times and satisfaction of games well-played, for participants and employees of both companies, the Retail Olympics 2016 truly articulated the 5 ABG Group Values of Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed.

The picturesque Aamby Valley Resort near Mumbai proved to be the perfect backdrop for the annual ABRL Awards 2016. In its second year, the event which took place from July 22-23, was a glitzy and glamorous red carpet affair that acknowledged and awarded ABRL employees from across the country for their outstanding performance during the year. The awards ceremony also showcased impressive talent in the form of song and dance performances from employees across regions, as well as an exquisite fashion show featuring the beautiful faces of ABRL. The two-day event also included fun sporting activities, an interactive session on the forward-looking prospects of ABRL by Vishak Kumar, CEO-ABRL, insightful team presentations on successful project pilots in ABRL and a motivational speech by eminent cricket commentator, Harsha Bhogle. As the curtains drew on yet another successful and well-executed event, the words ‘Healthy Happy Aamby’ resonated joyfully on the lips of every ABRL employee.
